The Southeast prepares to welcome another automotive manufacturer
The announcement of Rivian Automotive’s new manufacturing plant in Atlanta has been met with both enthusiasm and skepticism from locals in the area. At over $1.5 billion in state and local incentives, this project represents a major investment in Georgia’s economy that is expected to its ranks, as electric-pickup maker Rivian Automotive Inc. announces plans to build a new plant in the Atlanta area. With over $1.5 billion in state and local incentives for the project, this new facility is expected to create thousands of jobs and help bolster the region’s growing economy. Despite some concerns over increased traffic and other impacts on the community, most residents are excited about this new opportunity for growth in their area.
Another feather in Georgia's cap
In February of 2006, Kia Motors announced that they were building a manufacturing facility in West Point, Georgia at a cost of $1.2 B. The new facility has created over 3,000 jobs and has become a centerpiece of the region’s economy. The Kia West Point production facility is now one of the largest manufacturing investments in Georgia and is expected to continue creating jobs for decades to come.
The addition of the new manufacturing plant is exciting news for the Atlanta area, which has already seen significant economic growth in recent years. With a growing economy, excellent job opportunities, and lower unemployment than many other parts of the country, this region is becoming an increasingly attractive place to live and work. Whether you are looking for a new career or simply want to explore your options, Atlanta represents an exciting opportunity that should not be missed. Thanks to major companies like Kia and Rivian Automotive, there has never been a better time to consider a move to Georgia’s burgeoning capital city.
New opportunity for mechanical contractors
With even more manufacturing coming to the area, there is an even greater need for mechanical contractors, especially those with experience in automotive manufacturing.
Midsouth was one of the first mechanical contractors to work with the expansive Kia facility in West Point. After all, it’s only a few miles from our headquarters in LaGrange, Georgia. We helped move large machinery into its correct position and have installed and repaired the large presses used for stamping.
We are excited to watch the development of this new Rivian plant and for what it will do to further the economic development of not only our home state but the Southeast.
Our team is here to help.
